Based in the heart of Middlesbrough, Boho is the digital and creative hub of the Tees Valley, and the centre of ambitious plans to make Middlesbrough #TheDigitalCity of the UK.

The area known as Boho is located opposite Middlesbrough railway station. The Middlesbrough we know today grew from just a few streets in this area, into a booming industrial powerhouse – an ‘Ironopolis’ respected the world over. The area now houses one of the North East’s most prominent digital and creative clusters, attracting national and international digital firms across fields like app development, game design and AR. Over the next few years, the Boho area will also welcome new residential developments, transforming it into a desirable urban location for people to live, work and enjoy what Middlesbrough has to offer.

Boho is a place for like-minded digital and tech experts to develop their talents. From their inception to their expansion, businesses have been created and nurtured by local talent. Many have global clients and are improving and developing digital processes for firms across a wide range of industries.

The next phase of Boho will welcome iconic new office structures as well as a mix of residential housing to suit the demand from an ever-growing community.

Boho X

One of the boldest structures to be added to Middlesbrough’s portfolio of office space. The 60,000 square foot building will attract more cutting-edge digital businesses to Middlesbrough, and will enable existing businesses to expand and grow. The seven story office building will be situated between Gosford Street and Feversham Street, within the south east of the Boho regeneration area. The office building will include a lecture theatre, café, swimming pool, gym, event space and public realm area.

The project is already underway and completion is expected by December 2022.

Existing Boho buildings

Boho One is the flagship building for DigitalCity Business and the heart of the Boho Zone – the commercial quarter for the town’s digital media, digital technology and creative sectors.

Bohouse is the second development in the Boho Zone. It offers live/work units, which sits alongside Boho One. It’s designed to offer flexible space to work from home and set up your new business in the digital and creative industries.

Platform Arts, the third development in the Boho Zone, occupies purpose-built studios within Middlesbrough railway station. Housed in the old British Rail parcel store and fish quay, it provides professional artists and craftspeople with studio space.

Gibson House, known as Boho 4, is one of Middlesbrough’s oldest buildings. It offers a genuine creative hub where new businesses, established successful companies and support agencies work together. Renovation of the classical building was carefully planned to ensure office users benefited from a completely flexible and simple solution to their business needs.

Boho 5 offers office accommodation for up to 50 small and medium sized enterprises in the digital and creative sector. Office sizes range from 100 to 1000 sq. ft.

Crown House, or Boho 6, has been beautifully restored keeping much of its original character and offers excellent office space with high speed broadband and is just minutes from the
railway station.

Boho 8 is the latest addition to the Boho digital zone. The £2.5million project offers bespoke modular units for rapidly expanding companies already located in the area, as well as attracting new businesses.
