Around 100+ new jobs will be created after a utilities brokerage took over an empty office space in Middlesbrough.

Splash Utilities specialises in water contracts for businesses, and has links to gas and electric products as well.

The firm moved into the 8,000 sq ft vacant premises in Royal Middlehaven House, and with 30 staff already in place it is hoped that a further 70 positions will be created in the new year.

Apprenticeships and traineeships are available, meaning staff will gain qualifications whilst working for a fantastic new company.

Tony Anderson, Managing Director at Splash Utilities, said: “We are all really excited about this new business. Splash will be a formidable force within the utilities industry whilst giving job creation and economic support to Middlesbrough and the Tees Valley region.

“We are a clean, fresh and credible brand looking to grow within the sector, working alongside the local authority to offer jobs to a wide range of demographic.

“We work with the most up to date technologies, so we can find businesses the best deal and value for their utility needs.

“We are delighted with the staff we have in place now, and we’re looking forward to creating more job opportunities moving forward.”

The business has received a grant of over £350,000 from the SSI Task Force.

Amanda Skelton, Chair of the SSI task Force, said: “This is excellent news and shows how with some support from the SSI Task Force businesses can expand and create many new jobs. Splash Utilities are showing exactly the kind of ambition that we need for economic growth across the entire Tees Valley.”

Councillor Charlie Rooney, Middlesbrough’s Deputy Mayor and Executive Member for City Centre Strategy, said: “A key aim for Middlesbrough Council is to increase both the number of jobs in our city centre and also to diversify by trying to attract different types of businesses.

“This announcement by Splash Utilities ticks both of those boxes and we are delighted to hear of their move into Royal Middlehaven House. It is a perfect location to grow a business being in the Boho Zone and so close to the railway station and the centre of Middlesbrough and we look forward to watching their growth as a company.”
